If you’re heading down to Florida for a Walt Disney World vacation, Orlando and the surrounding area is basically where you’ll be staying. However, Walt Disney World isn’t located right in Orlando, contrary to popular belief, but on the outskirts.
The main thing you’re probably wondering about your stay in and around the Orlando area, however, is the best time of year to go. What’s the weather like at various times during the year? Knowing this will help you plan your trip to Walt Disney World more efficiently, and when you’re going to a big place like Walt Disney World where you probably want to bring home a souvenir or two, the more room in your suitcase, the better!
Temperatures between November and March are generally in the low 60s, so it might be a little chilly on days when a cool breeze sweeps through the area. However, at this time of year there are fewer people attending the parks and you’ll have a shorter wait time for any rides or things you want to see or do. Fewer crowds means a quieter visit, but it also means that the park may close due to inclement weather on certain days – or some rides may be down for renovations. The park is decorated at Christmas time in a holiday theme, and fireworks are still held every night, however the park also closes earlier on many days – sometimes as early as 6pm or 7pm.
The months of April to May are a little warmer, with temperatures in the 70s. This is a good time to come because it’s not too hot, not too cold, and the kids are still in school! Essentially, any time that children are still in school is a great time to come to Walt Disney World, because it’s quieter and less crowded. Of course, April and May are also busy times of year for university students and many businesses, as people and places are planning for the summer months. It’s a great time to come if you can make it, since it’s a busy time of year for almost everyone.
From June to August, you’re going to be fighting the heat. Since you’ve chosen a Walt Disney World vacation, Orlando temperatures are going to be in the mid-80s to 90s, and it will be humid. For people with heat sensitivity, they will need to be careful not to overexert themselves while on vacation, and things like afternoon rest periods are a great time to unwind and relax, and then return to the park for its evening festivities. One thing to remember about the summer months is: be prepared for large crowds. This is one of the best times to have a Walt Disney World vacation package, to ensure that you don’t miss out on anything Disney has to offer that you had your heart set on seeing or doing.
One final thing to consider is: in late August and early September, the weather starts cooling off again, and kids area getting ready to go back to school – so there are fewer crowds again, and many resorts will offer you a discount!
